It’s October…
It’s’ windy, rainy
There’s a chill in the air.
Yet…
It’s a good day to go to the beach!

Unexpected Delight
Today’s Gift

Here are a few things I saw on my morning walk.

I thought I’d share… just for fun

Today’s gift

I knew where I was going.
I wasn’t lost.
My destination was secure.

However…
In the fog
There was uncertainty
About what waited ahead

Perhaps…
Something dreaded?
Something delightful?
Something unexpected?

Not to worry…
I know where I am going.
I am not lost.
My destination is secure.

On our way for donuts
Out of the blue
Ben
He wonders “How does God do this?”

Butterflies, hummingbirds, flowers, rain…
They float, they hover, they bloom, it waters…
They delight, they amaze, they beautify, it sustains…

He wonders “How does God do this?
Ben
Out of the blue…
Forgets about donuts …
And in his wondering …
Praises the One who made them.
Today’s gift.

They’re finally blooming, the new ones, that is…

I thought I’d share.

Today’s gift

Okay, so this wasn’t a walk among
… stars,
… planets
… galaxies

Still, God so loved the Cosmos,
including you and me,
and everything in it,
that he sent Jesus to redeem it.

This might be a bit too preachy,
but it’s true
…and today’s gift.

“Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, my soul…
He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them—
he remains faithful forever.”
Psalm 146:1,6

This is the day the Lord has made,
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

Today’s Gift

It’s Easter Sunday and here’s the Good News.
“For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV
Today is also known as Resurrection Sunday.
So today, along with the Heidelberg Catechism, we ask how does Christ’s resurrection benefit us?
First
by his resurrection
he has overcome death,
so that he might make us share
in the righteousness
he obtained for us by his death.
Second
by his power
we too
are already raised
to a new life.
Third
Christ’s resurrection
is a sure pledge to us
of our blessed resurrection.

Good News indeed.
Today’s Gift
The snow was certainly unexpected, so I thought I’d share.

Before the sunrise Illuminating Lightning Provided prelude
to
The stormy grumble Rumbling, rolling, round sounding Vibrating thunder
and
Morning ‘til evening Pelting, puddling, darting All the day long rain
ii
However,
Driving with Ben in the gray and gloom of the day, on our way for coffee and donuts, the windshield wipers barely kept up with the rain. Out of nowhere Ben says,
How does God do it? The birds and butterflies, so colorful! And the ants, so tiny yet living things! And the rain! How does God do it? Amazing
iii
Then there’s this
A small thing bravely
Smiling in spite of cold, rain
The Designer’s gift
And then there’s the Dahlia.
